I havent played the game for a couple of weeks now. The only reason I stay is for hopes for a better pvp game. The game mechanics now is incredible. I like the build concept and how anet tries to keep the game balanced. However, considering the focus is pvp, I find the game lacking in the pvp areas.
To have fun in any of the main pvp modes (HoH, GvG), you're required 8 players. Having 8 players on at the same time, even with scheduling, is troublesome. Not only that, you have to see whether the right skills are unlocked. There's also recruit replacements, disputes among members, and a shiznet loads more. It just leads to more work and less play. Sure, I can go play TA or RA but the game is really a build vs. build where environment and tactical play is non-existance unlike GvG.
My friend recommended me this game. He told me its like a suped-up version of DOTA, a game where I think pvp with rpg elements done right. What's funny is he quit playing GW after 3 months whereas I've played for 6. Now that Factions is announced I'm eager for any new developments on the pvp part of the game (though, i'm kinda discouraged after hearing a 12v12 match up. ugh.).
Hell, if they announced 4v4 gvg, I'll preorder Factions right now.

I have a few problems with this game, but I never really blurt them out to anyone. There is one major problem with the game which stands out more than any other: It's too addictive. DARNIT
I love Guild Wars and have met some really decent people, and when I start getting flamed and called "n00b" for saying something like, "Please don't aggro so much, we need to work as a team", I press N and look at all the great people there are in the game too.

I 100% second this point. In particular about HoH. Building a team of 8 players is an exhausting process. Especially when you start with no fame. There is a discrimination policy to exclude gamers with low ranks. Moreover, once you eventually have your team, you get killed most of the time at the second round by IWAY teams. 1 hour to build. 5 min to play
One way to bypass the rank discrimination issue is to join IWAY team in order to farm fame on the back of newbies. This is really sad. Once you have enough fame, you can join ranked team and you know how to defeat an IWAY team. But you still need to spend 1 or 2 hours to build a team of players who know how to defeat an IWAY team. Of course, this time you will play much longer.
Another way to get into HoH is through your guild. As you belong to a group of people, it may take less time to build a team (if you belong to a PvE guild then you just have to move to another one). But in this case, I don't understand the purpose of HoH if this is just another kind of GvG.
From my point of view, HoH is really the weakest part of GW.
What I would suggest to improve this part is to add to HoH a way to build a random team like the one proposed in random arena. Players would be gathered in teams depending on their rank. At least, we would not waste our time building a team.
These random teams would be first opposed to other random teams (with the same ranking as it is done for GvG). Once there is no more random teams to oppose, the random team would be opposed to organized teams (in the same way RA team move to CA). At least, new players would progress in fame and get the opportunity to play more than just one match.
I agree with CasualPlayer. If there is no quick way in Factions to get into 12v12 competition, then this new feature is almost useless.

I think I identify with the game, since I have met some friends and I have shared a lot of thoughts in the forums. I have a sense of COmmunity to some extent, even though i don't know anybody...
I have chatted with many members on ICU wtc, like Ensign , Scap, Saus, etc...and been in pugs with many top players from Fianna to IQ and others, all sharing a facination with the game.
Me and my brother , 6000 miles apart also share a few hours now and then together in the game on Voice COms mostly in PvP and back in the day PvE.
I have played since October 04 and I still enjoy the game. My friendslist is always grey so I'm one of the few still left I imagine. Guild Wars is the best game I have ever played.
Beta testing made a fan out of me. Oh, what fun....'

Lineage 2. More ballanced and better PvP than Guild Wars. It's the only good thing about Lineage 2. On the bad side, its controls, graphic, emotions all suck bigtime.
It's like programmed by 12 year old kids, It's even lagging like crazy on retail servers.

I <3 this game. I get mad at it sometimes but never hatefull at it.
I don't even hate Iway, or even playing aganist Iway (gasp!).
Take some time to take a look at the setting inside your favorite town. Think about all the work put into just that small chunk of beauty. All of that work was just for you. Think about how much better this game has gotten since you started. Think about all the time left that this game has to improve. Think about how this game has gotten better and better. Sure it had some minor setbacks, but god..........
It's beautiful.

I still like guild wars, except for the occasional jerk in pugs. I've played thru pve 4 times since release and took 2 months off. I just came back a month ago and recently decided to delete a character I don't use and make a minion master and get myself ran thru the game as much as possible. It worked pretty good. The new necro has 13 hours logged so far at lvl 8 with grotto armor and I'm working on the desert ascension missions The Thirsty River mission I was doing last night got pretty frustrating with another necro in the group. He kept consuming corpses for energy and then had the nerve to tell me that I sucked as a minion master because I wasn't making enough minions.
